.The privately-owned, Italian firearms company that is Beretta is a global force in the industry, with its weapons being sold and used all around the world. It’s one of the most established weapons manufacturers in the world. one of the two most notable of its creations are the Beretta 92FS and the Beretta M9. 

How do they differ? Well, the first thing you’ll notice when looking at the two is the design of the front part of the gun, as well as the aiming dots. To begin with, the M9 features a front sight with a solitary dot and rear sight with a central half-circle.

  • The 92FS represents an evolution of the M1951 & M1923, however, the M9 was chosen as a military-grade spec by the armed forces in the US at the end of the 80s.
  • The M9 is only used by US forces, whereas the 92FS has been used around the world. 
  • The 92FS is lighter beneath the beavertail than the M9 due to less material being used.

So, when you’re trying to tell the difference between the Beretta 92FS and the M9, don’t be hard on yourself for not being able to do so visually. Sure, one comes with a blue finish and the other black and the sights are different. but they also have a lot of similarities both in looks and performance.
